Surface Mount Technology (SMT)

Protecting today's sophisticated wireless devices requires an equal amount of sophistication in protective accessories.
Traditional protective shells use clips to adhere to a device, especially those designed for newer flat screen smartphones (with or without a keyboard). Clips can often scratch the device and/or lead to failure and, therefore, a poor customer experience.
SMT (patent pending), developed by Superior, allows the user to apply a protective shell to a device without any mechanical clips or latches, allowing for a clean and fitted application. SMT-enabled protective accessories can be easily removed and reapplied to the same device without any concern for breaking mechanical clips (tested for 1,000+ on-off cycles). Current protective shells can break after the first attempt to remove/reapply.
The technology can be applied to various materials used for manufacturing protective accessories — plastics, fabrics and silicones. We are also exploring the use of SMT in other applications.
